David Bacon
David Bacon is a California-based writer and photographer. He is the author of several books about migration: The Children of NAFTA, Communities Without Borders, Illegal People: How Globalization Creates Migration and Criminalizes Immigrants, and The Right to Stay Home. In the Fields of the North / En los Campos del Norte, copublished by the University of California Press (Berkeley) and the Colegio de la Frontera Norte (Tijuana), documents the lives of farm workers in photographs and narratives. His latest book is More Than a Wall/Mas que un muro (Colegio de la Frontera Norte, 2022). Since 1986, he has been documenting the lives and social movements of migrants, farm workers and communities impacted by globalization through photographs and journalism. His photography archive was acquired by the Special Collections Department of the Green Library at Stanford University in 2019, and his journalism archive in 2025.
